Uganda has assured travellers of their safety and normal tourism operations, as the country continues to report zero local Ebola transmission.
Following the recent outbreak of the Bundibugyo Ebola strain in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo, the Ministry of Health remains vigilant and proactive with robust surveillance systems, contact tracing measures, and rapid response teams operational nationwide.
National sensitisation includes messages on standard hygiene measures; however, beyond such precautions, Uganda remains open, welcoming, and safe for tourism, business, and investment.
On Tuesday, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) assured all travellers and stakeholders that tourism activities, hospitality services, conferences, and everyday operations across the country are proceeding normally.
“From adventure and conservation to meetings, culture, and investment opportunities, Uganda remains a trusted and rewarding destination at the heart of Africa,” reads the public statement from UTB's Juliana Kagwa, the Chief Executive Officer.

UGANDA SAFE FOR TRAVEL AMIDST EBOLA REPORTS LINKED TO THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) wishes to reassure travellers, tourism partners, and the international community following recent media reports regarding Ebola cases linked to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Uganda has registered two isolated imported Ebola cases involving Congolese nationals who entered Uganda from the DRC. One patient sadly passed away and has since been repatriated, while the second patient is currently receiving treatment under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.
Importantly, there is currently ZERO local transmission or community infection within Uganda. The Uganda Ministry of Health continues to maintain robust surveillance, screening, contact tracing, and rapid response systems nationwide.
Uganda is internationally recognised for its experience in managing Ebola outbreaks and other epidemics. Tourism activities, national parks, hotels, conference venues, and transport services continue to operate normally.
Visitors and Tourism practitioners are encouraged to observe standard hygiene practices, including regular handwashing and use of sanitiser, while enjoying Uganda's diverse tourism experiences.
Uganda remains safe, open, and welcoming for tourism, business, and investment. Life continues normally!
