Bulambuli district-based Agnes Nambozo, who is a nurse at Buluganya Health Center III, has scooped a vocational service award from the Rotary Club of Kampala.

Nambozo, 35, climbs the ladder to reach out to patients in Nataba parish who are unable to access the Buluganya health facility.

The services she offers during her outreaches include vaccination of children, family planning and sometimes services to TB patients.

For one to access Nataba parish, one has to use a wooden ladder to up the cliff since there is no alternative route.

‘’Climbing a wooden ladder is very risky, you just need to take heart, since Nataba parish is attached to Buluganya Health Center III, we cannot leave it out,’’ she said.

She appealed to the Government to find a way of modifying the ladders by replacing the wooden ones with metallic ones.

Nambozo said the allowance for primary health care is too little and suggested that the Government considers Bulambuli as a hard-to-reach district and increase their allowances to 30%.

Rotary Club of Kampala president Prof. Francis Omaswa said every year, they recognise one or two people who have made individual contributions to public service and that this year, they decided to award Nambozo for her exceptional service.

‘’This Award will inspire Nambozo, nurses and other professionals including policemen and soldiers, teachers that if you do a good job, the world is watching and they will recognise you in one way or another,’’ he said while presenting the award to Nambozo at the Sheraton Kampala on Thursday.

He promised that Rotarians will work with her to improve her profession.
