Arua Hospital theatre assistant remanded on corruption charges

It is alleged that on May 29, 2022, while being employed as a theatre assistant at Arua Regional Referral Hospital, the accused solicited and received a bribe from the parents of an infant.

The Anti-Corruption Court Tuesday, March 19, charged and remanded to Luzira Prison, Wamana Paul, a former theatre assistant at Arua Regional Referral Hospital on charges of corruption.

It is alleged that on May 29, 2022, while being employed as a theatre assistant at Arua Regional Referral Hospital, the accused solicited and received a bribe from the parents of an infant in exchange for performing a surgical operation on the child.

He was first given sh210,000 with promise of more. On the day of the operation, he failed to attend to the patient which caused delays and unfortunately, the child passed on. 

He has been remanded till 26th March 2023.
