SOROTI - The Police in Soroti City have recovered a four-day-old baby boy who was abandoned by his mother near a swimming pool of Sparrow Hotel in Soroti City East Division. 

The baby is believed to have been dumped at about 5:00 am, and was discovered by people who were on their morning commute. 

"A child of 3-4 days old has been recovered from around the swimming pool at Opiro kindly check your neighbourhood for a missing baby and notify probation officers of the city and district," said Amos Oluka, the Soroti probation officer in a message. 

Oluka in an interview with New Vision said that they have taken the baby to Amecet children's home as they wait for the mother or relatives of the baby to appear. 

"This baby shall be kept well as we wait for the Police to get his mother. We suspect that the father of the child could be within that area. We call upon people to report of any women or girl that has been pregnant but the pregnancy has disappeared of recent," Oluka said. 

Police said that they have opened a general inquiry over the recovered baby.
