MASAKA - The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has donated essential food items, sanitary supplies and other welfare materials to Masaka School for the Deaf as part of its corporate social responsibility programme aimed at supporting vulnerable communities.
The donation was delivered by a URSB delegation led by registrar general Mercy K. Kainobwisho during a visit to the school in Masaka on June 20, 2026. The items were received by the school’s director, Francis Kamulegeya.
Masaka School for the Deaf is a specialised institution that provides nursery, primary and basic vocational education to deaf and hearing-impaired children.
In addition to academic instruction, the school promotes sports, music, dance and drama, while implementing family empowerment programmes to support children with special needs.
Speaking during the visit, Kainobwisho said URSB remains committed to promoting social inclusion and supporting communities in line with the country’s development agenda.
"At URSB, we believe that sustainable development requires collective action and a commitment to uplifting the most vulnerable members of society. Supporting institutions such as Masaka School for the Deaf reflects our dedication to inclusion, dignity and creating opportunities for every Ugandan to realise their full potential," she said.
Kainobwisho noted that URSB’s CSR initiatives are intended to complement government efforts in education, social protection and livelihood improvement.

She said the Bureau will continue investing in community programmes that improve welfare and expand opportunities for vulnerable groups across the country.
Receiving the donation, Kamulegeya thanked URSB for recognising the needs of children living with disabilities and providing timely support to the institution.
"We are grateful to URSB for this support and for taking the time to engage with our learners and staff. Such partnerships are critical in enabling us to provide a conducive learning environment and better care for the children entrusted to us," he said.
Kamulegeya, a former corporate executive who dedicated his life to serving vulnerable children, was commended by the URSB team for his commitment to improving the welfare and educational outcomes of deaf and hearing-impaired learners.
The latest outreach adds to a range of CSR activities undertaken by URSB over the years, including support to educational institutions, health facilities, environmental conservation initiatives and community development programmes.
Through these initiatives, URSB says it aims to extend public service beyond its statutory mandate by contributing to social and economic development and improving the well-being of communities across Uganda.
