Several working women complained that they often return home tired and stressed, neglecting household chores. They suggested that in such cases, instructing the maid to regularly clean toilets could help, as guests wouldn't blame the maid if they found the home untidy.

Zuena Kirema, the wife of Gagamel boss Moses Ssali, known as Bebe Cool, has criticised married women for neglecting household hygiene, particularly in the lavatory section, which many do not consider essential.

"Dear fellow married women, the toilet/toilets in your household need to be cleaned every day, not weekly, not twice a week, but every day," she wrote on her social media handles.

Zuena's statement sparked a discussion online, with many internet users sharing their views on toilet cleanliness.

Several of them noted that working women often return home tired and stressed, neglecting household chores. They suggested that in such cases, instructing the maid to regularly clean these places could help, as guests wouldn't blame the maid if they found the home untidy.

Marudhiya Sabiri, a scholar of clinical medicine at Maldmay Institute of Health Sciences, emphasised the importance of toilet hygiene in preventing diseases like genital warts, candida, syphilis, and urinary tract infections.

"Toilets must be cleaned for proper sanitation to prevent disease spread. They are often referred to as places of convenience, so how can you be convenient in a dirty toilet?" Sabiri said.

She advised using recommended medical chemicals to clean toilets regularly, ensuring the toilets are germ-free and the chemicles do not have harmful effects on humans.
