The city of Kampala was abuzz with excitement as the newly revamped Hamz Stadium, formerly known as Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, opened its doors to a thrilling array of sports and entertainment activities.
The grand opening was a spectacle to behold, showcasing a fusion of sports, music, and fireworks that captivated the audience.
The atmosphere at the stadium was electric, with activities ranging from football, basketball, and boxing, keeping the crowd on their feet.

The highlight of the event was the stellar lineup of music performances by Uganda's top artists. From Rema to Eddy Kenzo, Cindy, Bebe Cool, and many more, the stage was ablaze with talent.
The fireworks display that illuminated the night sky for over six minutes at the stroke of midnight added a magical touch to the celebration.

The grand opening attracted a host of high-profile personalities and celebrities, including the likes of CEO of Vision Group Mr. Don Wanyama, FUFA president Moses Magogo, and renowned artistes like Winnie Nwagi, Sheebah, and Pallaso. The presence of prominent figures such as Zuena Kirema, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, and Godfrey Kirumira Kalule added to the glitz and glamour of the event.

While the event was a feast for the senses, some attendees voiced disappointment over the absence of alcohol selling points at the stadium, noting the Muslim background of Hamz Stadium's CEO, Hamis Kigunddu. Despite this, the VIP guests were treated to a culinary delight, indulging in complimentary meals while immersing themselves in the festivities.
Tight security measures were in place, ensuring the safety of all attendees. Rigorous checks and the presence of security agencies such as UPDF maintained order both inside and outside the venue.
Officially hosted by Bukedde radio and Television’s Simon Maseruka aka Simo Omunene Womukibuga, hosting Kasalabecca on Bukedde TV 2 and Bukedde Butya every morning, the grand opening of Hamz Stadium was a celebration of Ugandan culture, talent, and unity and the event lasted up to early hours of Sunday morning.
It brought together sports enthusiasts, music lovers, and dignitaries in a spectacle that will be etched in the memories of so many that attended. The fusion of sports, music, and fireworks created a magical ambiance, marking the beginning of a new era for this iconic stadium in the heart of the city.
