As the year draws to a close, the mood at Doxa Grounds in Lubowa, Entebbe, is one of repentance, renewal, and quiet expectation. Worshippers lift their hands and voices, many whispering personal prayers asking for forgiveness, cleansing, and a fresh start as they prepare to step into 2026 with renewed faith.

Songs of joy ripple through the open grounds, carried by the voices of thousands gathered for the crossover prayers. Families arrive together, parents holding the hands of their children, young girls and boys standing shoulder to shoulder, united by a shared desire for new blessings and a clean soul in the year ahead.

At the centre of the moment is Pastor Wilson Bugembe, whose presence energises the crowd. His words and music draw loud cheers, tears, and spontaneous dancing, as worshippers respond with unrestrained joy. For many, this is not just another church service, but a spiritual turning point.

Among those in attendance is Gloria Nafuna, an enrolled nurse and pharmacy operator from Lugala, who travelled more than 10 kilometres to be part of the prayers. She says she came seeking God’s continued guidance as she enters a new year.

“I thank God for all He has done for me. Surely, I am rejoicing,” Nafuna says, smiling. “I want Him to lead me on the right path, just as He has been doing.”

Nafuna is one of the thousands who flocked to Doxa Grounds to receive special blessings and direction for the year ahead. Many carry personal burdens, financial struggles, family concerns, and health challenges, while others simply come to give thanks.

Addressing the congregation, Pastor Bugembe reminded worshippers that blessings thrive where peace prevails. He urged Ugandans to uphold unity and calm as the country heads into a sensitive period of choosing its next president, emphasising that national peace is a shared responsibility.

For 18-year-old Hope Nakkazi from Salama Road, the prayers are deeply personal. A student of catering and hotel management, she says she came seeking miracles for herself and her family.

“I have many needs,” Nakkazi says softly. “School fees, a financial breakthrough, and a holy marriage for my parents. I believe God will answer.”

As midnight approaches, hope hangs in the air at Doxa Grounds, hope for forgiveness, for answered prayers, and for a brighter 2026 grounded in faith.
