While Uganda’s comedy and music stars entertained revellers at Lugogo on Friday, a group of young performers from Wakiso quietly made their own statement, proving that talent has no age limit or background.

Wakiso Dance Kids Foundation is celebrating another milestone after its young performers lit up the stage at The Comedy Store’s 10th anniversary celebration held at Lugogo.

The children brought their energy and dance skills to the high-profile event, sharing the spotlight with celebrated Ugandan entertainer Ray G and other prominent figures in the entertainment industry.

The celebration marked 10 years of The Comedy Store, a platform that has grown into one of Uganda’s leading comedy and entertainment brands, bringing together musicians, comedians and performers for a night of laughter and music.

For Wakiso Dance Kids, however, the occasion was about more than entertainment. It was an opportunity to showcase the abilities of young talents, gain exposure and demonstrate that children from disadvantaged backgrounds can also command attention on major entertainment stages.

The experience was particularly significant given the calibre of entertainers associated with the celebration. African music star Diamond Platnumz was also among the performers lined up for the event, alongside The Ben and several Ugandan entertainment heavyweights.

Sharing a platform with such established names is another encouraging step for the foundation, which believes that a child's background should never determine how far their talent can take them.

Founded in 2018, Wakiso Dance Kids Foundation uses dance, music and creative expression to nurture children's talents while supporting their education, welfare and basic needs.

The organisation currently cares for 17 orphaned and vulnerable children, providing an environment where they can discover their abilities, develop confidence and pursue their dreams.

For these children, every stage appearance is more than a performance. It is a chance to be seen, heard and appreciated, while challenging the perception that children from disadvantaged backgrounds have limited opportunities to succeed.

The foundation expressed gratitude to Ray G and everyone who continues to create opportunities for the young performers to showcase their abilities.

From Wakiso to the big entertainment stages, the children are steadily building their profile, one performance at a time.
