Ugandan singer Biya and Nigerian Afro-pop star Jaywon are set to fly their countries’ musical flags with new singles dropping on Thursday, October 15, as independent African music and entertainment company Shake It Africa expands its cross-continental music campaign.

Biya’s dance-floor offering, Shake It, and Jaywon’s more reflective Jungle Boy mark the second chapter of the company’s Bantu Muntu campaign, a project bringing together artists and diverse sounds from across Africa.

While Biya taps into Kampala’s vibrant dance culture with infectious hooks and driving percussion, Jaywon takes a more introspective route, blending soulful melodies with contemporary Afro-pop production to explore ambition, resilience and the challenges of pursuing bigger dreams.

The contrasting releases underline the campaign’s mission to showcase Africa’s diverse musical identities while creating opportunities for collaboration and international exposure.

Founded by Ugandan artist Jon Muq and music executive Kevin Wommack, Shake It Africa seeks to connect African music, visual art and live experiences with audiences across Africa, the United States and Europe.

The latest releases follow the launch of Muq’s Shake Shake Dance For Me and the company’s new live event series in Austin, Texas.

They also set the stage for the 10-track Bantu Muntu compilation, scheduled for release on February 12, 2027. The project will bring together artists from across the continent, highlighting their individual sounds while opening doors to artist development and international audiences.

Shake It Africa plans to extend the campaign to Europe with a showcase in Utrecht, the Netherlands, on March 27, 2027.

Muq, who serves as the company’s co-founder, lead A&R and creative director, says the two singles demonstrate the breadth of African music.

“Biya brings an energy that feels unmistakably Ugandan and immediately makes you want to move. Jaywon brings experience, melody and a story of resilience from Nigeria,” Muq says.

“Bantu Muntu is about allowing those identities to stand on their own while bringing them together under one project.”

Wommack, the company’s co-founder and chief executive officer, says the releases are part of a long-term strategy to connect African artists with audiences beyond their home markets.

“From the beginning, our goal with Shake It Africa has been to build real bridges between African artists and audiences internationally,” he says.

The company hopes to connect its artists with listeners at home, across the African diaspora and among new audiences in the United States and Europe.

With Biya bringing the Kampala dance-floor spirit and Jaywon offering Nigeria’s soulful Afro-pop touch, the October 15 releases promise another meeting point for two distinct sounds under one African music banner.
