Mukiibi attended the event and thanked God for the gift of life. "I am grateful to God, for He has blessed me with health, peace, and happiness to look this young despite being 83 years old. Many people think I died, but I am still alive," he said.

On May 25, theatre greats reunited under an association, the Legends of Theatre, at the National Theatre for the launch of Abassa N'abassa, a production by Christopher Mukiibi.

The evening event was graced by Owekitibwa Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule, the speaker of the Buganda Kingdom.

''I appreciate you for inviting me for launching the Legends of Theatre and  Abassa N'abassa, a theatrical production written by legendary theatre artist Christopher Mukiibi, a gentleman known for wearing a round hat. I have known Mr. Christpher Mukiibi since the 1970s & 1980s. I admire his charisma and that of other legends; the likes of Dan Mukula, Matia Luyima, Annet Nandujja,  Edward Lule, just to mention a few of those who have maintained the high standards of theatre in Uganda," said Mugumbule.

Mukiibi attended the event and thanked God for the gift of life.

"I am grateful to God, for He has blessed me with health, peace, and happiness to look this young despite being 83 years old. Many people think I died, but I am still alive," he said.

Mukiibi disclosed that they were preparing something for their fans.

"We are bringing something different on stage come June 3, 2022. Our plays are different. Today's actors act comedy and you opt for Panadol after the show due to laughter, but we educate through our plays and that has distinguished us from others," he said.

Mukiibi and his team performed a short play, giving the audience a taste of what's to come.

Francis Peter Ojede, the executive director of the National Theatre also known as Uganda National Cultural Centre, said: "The history of this place has not been smooth. In the 1970s, some of the Uganda National Cultural Centre leaders were murdered because of saying the truth! Much as it's a place to entertain, the entertainment must be truthful. Welcoming back the legends will not only promote art, but also celebrate artists in Uganda."
