Who is Musa Keys?
Musa Keys, whose real name is Musa Makamu, was born in Giyani, Limpopo Province’s northeastern area, and grew up in Polokwane, where he began performing music as a youngster.
Due to his love for music, which began at the age of 13 when he started playing the piano at church, the multi-hit track producer became very popular in South Africa.
From an early age, he has always been a creative youngster who has always wanted to accomplish the things he enjoys the most.
He gave preference to music and dropped out of Damelin, a career development college in South Africa, where he was studying sound engineering to focus on pursuing music full-time.
The main reason he left his academics was that music had started working out for him.
Musa Keys quickly established himself as one of the genre’s (Amapiano) most enduring figures. He once stated that his chosen genre ‘chose’ him, despite the fact that he started out doing trap music.
He’s noted for his catchy melodies on hit songs, including Hey Wena from 2019 and Samarian Boy from 2020, which charted for nearly three months on MTV Base and in South Africa.
In 2019, he dropped the EP titled The Streets Are Calling.
On July 30 2020, Musa Keys dropped an album titled Widlysm. The album had songs like Mali Yephepha, Loving the Boy, and Samarian Boy and on November19, 2021, he added to the number of albums with Tayo. It houses tracks like Selema (Po Po), Abekho, and Vula Mlomo.
The album means “source of joy”. His single Samarian Boy and Vula Mlomo feat. Sir Trill and Nobantu Vilakazi amassed over five million views on YouTube.
Musa Keys writes and records his own music, which he distributes through his record company, Keys Records.
He wants his music to reach a big audience and have a lasting effect on the Amapiano genre and music in general in South Africa.
