Ugandan saxophonist Isaiah Katumwa has released a new single, titled My Hope, which carries a message for anyone weighed down by life’s uncertainties.

In My Hope, released on Monday, October 19, 2026, Katumwa lets his saxophone speak, leaving listeners to interpret its melodies through their own experiences.

For the musician, who has spent years performing, recording and building an international audience, the song is also a reflection on life’s uncertainties and the need to keep moving forward.

“Hope is not the absence of difficulties. It is the decision to keep believing, even when circumstances do not give you every reason to,” Katumwa says.

The message comes at a time when many people are grappling with financial pressures, personal disappointments and uncertainty about the future. Katumwa hopes the song will offer comfort and encouragement to those going through difficult seasons.

“We are living in a time when so many people are carrying different burdens, sometimes silently,” he says. “Whatever season they may be going through, their story is not necessarily finished. There can still be something beautiful ahead.”

However, My Hope is not a sermon wrapped in music. Its strength lies in its openness, allowing listeners to find their own meaning in the composition. While some may find comfort in its soulful passages, others may draw encouragement from its brighter, uplifting moments.

That freedom of interpretation is central to Katumwa’s approach to instrumental music. Without lyrics directing the listener towards a particular message, the saxophone becomes a universal language capable of crossing cultural and geographical boundaries.

“Instrumental music has a beautiful way of reaching people beyond language,” he says. “Someone listening in Uganda, America, Europe, or anywhere else may be experiencing something completely different, yet the same melody can speak to them personally.”

Musically, the single showcases Katumwa’s signature Afro-smooth jazz fusion style, blending the warmth of smooth jazz with African influences and contemporary sounds.

Beyond its message to listeners, My Hope carries a personal significance for Katumwa. He views the release as a reminder that professional achievements do not mark the end of an artist’s journey and that there is always room to grow, learn and explore new possibilities.

Looking ahead, he is keen to explore collaborations, pursue creative opportunities and expand his involvement in artist development, signalling interests that extend beyond performing and recording.

“My journey has taught me that we never stop growing, learning or discovering new possibilities. Every chapter prepares us for another,” he says.

With My Hope, Katumwa invites listeners to pause, reflect and look towards tomorrow with renewed optimism, allowing the saxophone to deliver a simple but enduring reminder: even when life offers no guarantees, hope remains possible.
