Rev. Fr. Luke Ssebuliba, who led the prayers for the late Humphrey Mayanja, at St. Joseph Catholic Parish, Lweza on Entebbe Road, has implored singer Jose Chameleone to attend church.
Chameleone is the younger brother of Humphrey, who succumbed to cancer at the age of 49.
"Chameleone used to come to church, but now days, I don’t see him. I don’t know what happened to him, but the Mayanja family is a good friend to our church and we love them," Ssebuliba said during his speech on April 2, 2024.
He urged people to remember to come to church not only in bad times, but in good times too.
Ssebuliba went on to express his love for Chameleone’s songs.
Referring to Humphrey's parents, Prossy and Gerald Mayanja, Ssebuliba said Gerald was lost for words over the death, having lost another child - AK47- in 2015. He said Gerald was so downcast that he could not take the reading in church.
"He requested me to allow his grandson to take the reading in church, but I got worried because the boy has spent most of his time abroad, but I hope you heard his reading," Ssebuliba said.
He encouraged Mayanja and wife to be strong.
