Reign to continue comedy despite plans to join politics

Reign was as a professional teacher for some years, before embarking on his comedy career with Maulana (Yusuf Kasozi) in 2016.  Despite leaving teaching, Reign didn't abandon his education pursuits. He enrolled for a  journalism course and graduated from St. Lawrence University on February 23, 2024.

Reign, whose real name is Obed Lubega, has emphasised that he intends to still do comedy even when he ventures into politics in the next general election (2026).

He is one part of the comedy duo Maulana and Reign.

"I have been doing comedy for some good years. After I announced my next move of joining politics, it didn't mean that I was going to abandon comedy. I will still act with my partner, Maulana," Reign said.

He made the announcement during the final episode of Maulana and Reign Soyi Soyi show on Idd el-adhuha at Theatre Labonita in Kampala on June 16, 2024. The duo started Soyi Soyi in 2019.

On his part, Maulana pledged his support for Reign's new venture. 

Musicians such as Levixone, Zafaran and Swaba Kasumba entertained the guests.
