Frank Mwesigye, a staunch supporter of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU Poet 020) and socialite, has called off wedding planning meetings after securing over sh700 million in cash ahead of his upcoming marriage to his longtime fiancée, Laureen Natasha.
Mwesigye, who had already sent 14 Friesian dairy cows as dowry to Natasha’s parents’ home in Kyankwanzi, is set to tie the knot on June 20, 2026, with a grand reception planned at Kigo Gardens in Wakiso District.
The event is expected to attract high-profile guests, including members of the first family, government ministers, and senior army officials.
The official wedding planning meeting was held on April 16, 2026, and was attended by notable figures, including Minister Norbert Mao, the President’s brother Michael Nuwagira (commonly known as Toyota), Uganda Media Centre boss Allan Kasujja, several ministers, and other dignitaries.
According to Alex Muhangi, chairperson of the organizing committee, the decision to halt further meetings was reached after reviewing the progress of preparations. Speaking at Skyz Hotel in Naguru on Monday, April 27, 2026, Muhangi said the committee is satisfied, particularly with its financial target.
“The initial budget was sh700 million, but it has already been fully secured. There is no need for further contributions or meetings,” he explained.
It is reported that the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, made a significant contribution of sh100 million towards the preparations.
Mwesigye is a private businessman and farmer who hails from Kabura in Lyantonde District.
