“I plan as God also plans. I do not know what my daughter will become in future and maybe I will never know. I always try as a good mother to support her in whatever she is passionate about. However, education is  must," Nwagi said.

Swangz Avenue singer Winnie Nwagi has stated that her 13-year-old daughter, Destiny Valerie Mirembe, is free to take any career path she wants as long as it makes her happy.

This was after Destiny trended in clips on social media, where she was seen dancing, with many people tipping her.

During an interview on Thursday, May 30, Nwagi said Destiny loves dancing and singing.

"Whenever music is played, she comes alive and starts dancing, which makes me feel that she might want to take the same path like I took. She has a sweet voice and is committed to knowing issues related to music and how it is done," she said.

The 34-year-old singer said she gave birth to Destiny right after high school.

Unlike other artistes who do not want their children to get exposed to the public, for Nwagi, it is different.

“I plan as God also plans. I do not know what my daughter will become in future and maybe I will never know. I always try as a good mother to support her in whatever she is passionate about. However, education is  must," Nwagi said.

She went on and revealed that she and Destiny are close.

"My daughter and I are close friends. We have no secrets between us. She is my first best friend in life who understands me because she is now grown," Nwagi said.

Nwagi said she did not give her daughter the name by chance.

"Destiny means chances and opportunities in life, Valerie means strong and healthy and Mirembe means peace and tranquility in life. My daughter is blessed. I pray for her every day. By giving her that name, I wanted her to embody the meaning of the name, then she will be a woman of importance in this nation no matter the challenges she is going through now," she stated.

Nwagi vowed to fight whoever tries to fight her daughter.

She said Destiny is the reason she works day and night so as to meet her needs.

The Musawo singer said she does not want her daughter to have a  hard life like she did when she was still young, where she could not obtain her basic needs as a girl.

When asked how things were with an upcoming singer, Bizzy Nats, who had claimed paternity of Destiny, Nwagi labelled him a social climber.

On April 15, Bizzy Nats came out to claim to be Destiny's father. He said he had been denied a chance to see his daughter. Nwagi denied the accusations, clarifying that he was not the father of her daughter.

"Such people want to jump on big people like me to make a name and gain publicity. He used media to relay his evil intentions. He disrespected me. I am a responsible person and a mother. I deserve respect since many people are looking up to me. That boy came up with a half-baked story, which was not  even making sense. He wasted his time. It was my first time in my life  to see that boy. I do not know him. I appreciate my fans for standing with me in that challenging situation," Nwagi said.
