Events promoter Norbert Twizire, popularly known as Nobat Events, has been granted cash bail in a case involving the alleged theft of Shs1 billion and mismanagement of money belonging to Kampala and Beyond United Music Promoters SACCO, but remains in custody over a separate assault charge.
Nobat, dressed in a Muslim cap and face mask appeared before Makindye Magistrates Court on Monday, October 26, where Magistrate Aidah Nanjala first read him a fresh assault charge arising from an alleged incident involving Mubiru Hassan on October 1, 2026, at Kibuye Police Station in Kavule Zone, Makindye Division, Kampala.
He denied the charge and was remanded to Kampala Remand Prison until November 16, 2026.
He was later presented in court over the alleged theft and mismanagement of SACCO funds. The court granted him cash bail of Sh3 million, while his sureties were ordered to execute non-cash bail bonds of the same amount.
As part of the bail conditions, Nobat was ordered to surrender his passport and barred from travelling outside the country until the case is resolved.
Meanwhile, promoter Mohammad Katende, who spearheaded the case against Nobat, expressed dissatisfaction with the court's decision to grant him bail. He vowed to petition President Museveni and the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, over the matter.
The allegations concerning the SACCO funds remain before court and have yet to be determined.
