Naava Grey explains slow music releases, says music alone cannot sustain her

Singer Naava Grey has explained why she takes her time releasing new music, saying she prefers to work at her own pace rather than bow to pressure from the music industry.

Speaking in a television interview, the Ninga Omuloge singer said she is comfortable with her release schedule because she writes her own songs and wants to decide when and what to share with her fans.

“I only work at my pace and not others because I write my own songs. I’m the one to decide what I give them and because of public demand, I’m soon announcing another concert,” she said.

Unlike artists who actively promote their new releases through social media campaigns and media appearances, Naava said she rarely announces her music releases, preferring to let listeners discover the songs on their own.

“I have been releasing music and those who visit my YouTube channel will see the new ones. I do not announce when I’m releasing music, I just release it. I do not force my music on anyone,” she said.

Despite her relatively low-key approach to releasing and promoting music, the singer said she remains active in music while also dedicating time to her other business ventures.

Naava explained that relying solely on music for income can be challenging, making it necessary for artists to establish additional sources of revenue to sustain themselves.

“Of course, I have other businesses, and they also take my time. I cannot depend on music alone because it doesn’t pay. You can easily go hungry if you are looking at music alone. It is better to get a side hustle and also give it your time,” she said.

Her remarks highlight the financial challenges musicians can face and the importance of balancing their artistic careers with other income-generating activities.

Meanwhile, Naava hinted at plans to announce another concert, suggesting that fans could soon have an opportunity to experience her music live.
