Shaka iLembe will continue to captivate audiences with its rich storytelling, breathtaking visuals, and authentic representation of Zulu heritage. The drama traces the early life and rise of the legendary King Shaka Zulu, offering an immersive experience into the historical and cultural events that shaped one of Africa’s most iconic leaders.

In his remarks, Sebola N. Solly, South Africa’s Chargé d’Affaires to Uganda, applauded the production and urged Ugandan creatives to draw inspiration from it. “It is great to see Africans telling their own stories for the continent and the world.

I invite you to watch and learn about the life of the legendary Zulu King and encourage Ugandans to embrace film as a vehicle for authentic storytelling and cultural diplomacy,” he said.

The event underscored the monumental scale of the production. Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Uganda, revealed jaw-dropping statistics behind Season 2.

“This is not just a show—it’s an economic engine,” he said. “Over 16,000 cast and crew members were involved, including 14,812 extras, with hundreds of artisans like beaders, leather workers, and hairstylists bringing the visual world to life.”

Some of the astonishing figures shared included:

  • 50,000 bundles of grass and 30 kilometers of palm rock used in set design
  • 6,844 pairs of traditional footwear and 471 fabricated ivory casts
  • Over 6,000 packets of hair and 800 custom-made costume pieces
  • An astounding 100,000 hand-sewn beads on Queen Nandi’s coronation dress
  • 18,600 feathers used in royal and ceremonial costume design

These numbers not only highlight the grandeur of the series but also point to the hundreds of jobs created and the traditional craftsmanship revived in the process.

The launch was also a celebration of style and African fashion, with Sharon Adoch crowned the best dressed guest for her stunning African attire.
