KAMPALA - Having kick-started a new career in acting, the fast-growing actress in the film industry, Tracy Kababiito, landed her first role as lead character in the popular TV series, Sanyu, which premiered in February this year.

Acting as Sanyu on the show, Kababiito had undoubtedly captured the minds and attention of many, something that built a fan base in such a short period.

However, a sudden change of cast in the Sanyu series, affecting Kababiito's role, has left many shocked.

Kababiito was replaced by Catherine Namugenyi, another novice in the acting business. This sudden change has left social abuzz with questions of what could have happened, suddenly.

Well, Multichoice Uganda, the main partners and sponsors of the show, released a statement, citing failure to agree on new contract terms between Kababiito and the producers of the show, Nabwiso films.

“Namugenyi will replace Tracy Kababiito for the role of Sanyu after failure to come to an agreement in her renewal of contracts with Nabwiso Films. These changes take effect on 28th June 2021,” says Joan Semanda Kizza, PR and Communication Manager at Multichoice Uganda.

However, this has not stopped speculations of money-related disagreements from lingering on as the main cause of the split.

Interestingly, in the same boat is celebrated actor, Nana Kagga. Kagga, who also happens to be one of the lead characters in another local telenovela, Prestige, as Jasmine, was replaced by Sally Elizabeth Bwamimpeke, citing similar reasons of failure to agree on new contract terms.
