Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke has pledged to take care of the education expenses of one of the children of the late comedian Yokana Mbuuse, (Kapere Lufotose).
Nambooze made the pledge during Kapere’s burial in Kiyunga, Mukono district, where she joined family, friends, fellow entertainers and political leaders in paying their last respects to the comedian, who left four children.
The long-serving legislator, who belongs to the same party, said her decision was driven by her desire to stand with fellow NUP supporters, particularly those who have remained loyal to the party through difficult times.
“As long as God grants me life and the financial means, I want to take responsibility for paying Quin’s school fees. I want to support one of Kapere’s children through school. I am doing this because of NUP,” she said.
Nambooze also applauded NUP secretary general Lewis Rubongoya for his continued efforts to support party members and supporters going through difficult circumstances, despite having his own responsibilities and challenges.
She said she would channel the school fees through Rubongoya to ensure the child receives the support.
“I thank our SG. You do a lot for us even in our absence. Sometimes I question myself whether he even sleeps. I will go through you to hand over Quin’s school fees,” she said.
Meanwhile, musician King Saha has pledged to complete Kapere’s unfinished house, promising to see the project through even if he has to shoulder the financial burden alone.
The Kings Love Entertainment singer made the commitment during a vigil held at the NUP headquarters, where friends, colleagues and party supporters gathered to celebrate the comedian’s life and mourn his death.
Kapere, who died on November 1, 2026, was laid to rest on November 3 in Kiyunga, Mukono district, following a massive send-off attended by entertainers, political figures and members of the public.
More than Sh10m was raised through cash contributions and pledges during the requiem service and burial proceedings, as mourners rallied to support the bereaved family
