Miss Uganda contestants put talents on show

With the Miss Uganda 2026/2027 grand finale only days away, the 22 finalists are leaving nothing to chance as they look for every opportunity to impress the judges.

The contestants got another chance to shine on Friday during the Miss Uganda Talent Night, held at Arirang Hotel in Nakasero, where they swapped the usual beauty-pageant routines for an evening of music, dance, fashion and visual art.

The event, organised by the Miss Uganda Foundation in partnership with V&A Sherry, gave the finalists a platform to showcase talents that could earn them crucial marks ahead of the October 10 grand finale.

From traditional and contemporary dance to singing, painting, emceeing, tailoring and crafts, the contestants brought a wide range of skills to the stage, keeping the audience entertained throughout the evening.

Dance, however, dominated the night, with several contestants using movement to showcase Uganda's rich cultural heritage, while others opted for contemporary and modern styles.

Shamsa Nalumu used dance to tell stories inspired by different cultures, while Hildah Naluwu from Buikwe took the audience on a cultural journey with a lively combination of Bakisimba, Nankasa and Muwogola.

For contestants less familiar with traditional dance, contemporary performances provided an alternative.

Victoria Atim chose contemporary dance, captivating the audience before other contestants brought the energy of Amapiano and Kadodi to the stage.

The evening also offered a glimpse into the contestants' creativity beyond the stage.

Rukia Balunywa presented her fashion designs through models, while Sophie Asianzu demonstrated her artistic flair through painting.

Bridget Nakato, meanwhile, showcased her craft through tie-and-dye pieces featuring vibrant prints and patterns.

As each contestant took her turn, the audience responded with loud cheers and applause, particularly when a performance struck a chord.

With the grand finale drawing closer, the talent showcase offered the finalists another opportunity to demonstrate that the Miss Uganda crown is about more than beauty — it is also a celebration of confidence, creativity, culture and individuality.

The winner will be crowned on October 10, 2026, bringing the latest chapter of the Miss Uganda journey to a close.
