Ndere Centre in Ntinda, a Kampala suburb, was the go-to place for fans of urban music and lifestyle Saturday, June 29. The occasion was the first edition of the Jameson Hangout, this year.
The outlook of the venue was, by 4:00pm, already lit with wood brown pallets, cushioned with green seats to ensure a comfortable experience for the revellers. Jameson Hangout, by it's very nature, is one for revellers to sit comfortably and enjoy a subtly thrilling evening of urban, pop music.
The event kicked off on a calm note, with cocktails, nyama choma and indoor games occupying the guests for the better part of the evening. For tattoo enthusiasts, there was a parlour offering the service in minutes.
By 8:00pm, Professor Joewi and the Black Wave Sounds band had already taken to stage, entertaining guests with a variety of music genres.
Live performances were kicked off on a high, with London-based singer Qoha gracing the stage first. Qoha was joined by rapper Tucker HD, with whom they performed their recently released single - Kampala. While many were dazzled by Qoha's outfit, her musicality was quite something, too.
DJs Kasbaby, Melvin, Tony, Alza, and Marlyin followed thereafter, with an even more electric display.
MC Viana Indi was one of the radiant highlights of the night, giving off infectious dancing and Mceeing energy to the crowd.
As the crowd kept swelling in number, the urge for the headliners - Maurice Kirya and Fik Fameica, to step on stage, kept looming large as well.
At the height of his fans' craving for him, Kirya stepped on stage with Nze Ani, a gospel song that got the crowd singing along lyric after the other. With a live band that played every instrument with precision, complimented by significantly good sound, Kirya's fans were, indeed, in for a treat.
The Mwooyo self-styled singer would go on to perform songs from his previously released album - Road To Kirya, performing songs like Entebbe, and Bbuba. From his past music, Kirya treated the crowd to his retro hits like Blue Dress.
Playing the solo guitar himself, Kirya had the crowd feeding from his palm. Was he worth the long wait? Without a doubt, one would safely say.
For the Gen Z's, as the name goes, lately, Fameica's stellar performance was quite the highlight of the show. Singing in front of his very target audience, Fameica had the crowd in a chokehold.
From Rolex, his latest single, to Style Nta, Fameica kept the already sweaty revellers on their feet, dancing along to his signature dance moves, all night.
Later in the night, Adele Kiele, and Lynda Ddane would keep the hype up until the curtains were finally drawn.
