Veteran singer, actress, and filmmaker Mariam Ndagire is set to rekindle her love affair with music after announcing her return to the stage with a concert scheduled for December 11, 2026.
The celebrated entertainer, who had previously stepped back from recording music and public performances, says the time has come to reconnect with the audience that first embraced her as a singer.
Ndagire last held a major concert in 2009 during the era of her hit song Majangwa, after which she deliberately shifted her focus to filmmaking. Over the years, she has established herself as one of Uganda's leading filmmakers, earning recognition and nominations on the continental stage.
Speaking to journalists at her office at Bat Valley Theatre in Kampala on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Ndagire explained that she initially wanted to make her mark in the film industry before returning to music.
"I think I am still in the music industry, and I feel I can spare time for music," she said. "I now have the right people to organize my show, and I believe they will do a good job. I'm coming back to my fans."
The concert, which will be held at Kingdom Kampala, will see the multi-talented star perform some of her timeless classics.
"I'm going to relive my old songs, and I believe they will sound brand new because good music never grows old," she said.
Known for songs such as Majangwa, Ndagire said the concert is not only about nostalgia but also about supporting projects close to her heart.
"I have many things to use the money for, including my film school in Sentema. I will not lie to people that I am doing this for charity," she said with a laugh.
Her return comes at a time when many veteran musicians are rediscovering the stage and reminding younger audiences why they became household names in the first place.
