The Velocity in Kyanja has become the epicentre of culinary ambition as two chefs, Becky Bakes and Mama D', separately pursue Guinness World Records in marathon baking and cooking challenges.
Anita Tayebwa, wife of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, visited the venue to show support for the two women as they push their bodies and minds to the limit in pursuit of global recognition.
Becky Bakes is attempting the first-ever Guinness World Record for the longest baking marathon.

Her target is 100 hours of non-stop baking, and she has already been at it for four days. With the finish line in sight, she is now in the final phase of her historic attempt, drawing encouragement from visitors and well-wishers who have flocked to The Velocity.
Meanwhile, Mama D, a seasoned contender in the longest cooking marathon category is making her third attempt at the record. This time, she is aiming for an ambitious 10 days (240 hours) of continuous cooking. Having already been at it for six days, she is well into the final stretch of her challenge.

As of today, Mama D' has clocked 140 hours of non-stop cooking, surpassing the previous record of 140 hours and 11 minutes set by Australian Evette Quoibia. She has also eclipsed the 119 hours and 57 minutes achieved by Irish record holder Allan Fisher.
So far, Mama D' has prepared over 100 meals, and despite the physical and mental toll, she remains strong and determined to push through to the 10-day mark.
