Koffi Olomide’s Gulu Independence Day concert postponed

Congolese music icon Koffi Olomide’s Independence Day concert in Gulu City has been postponed following Uganda’s Ebola-related travel restrictions affecting travellers from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The concert, which was scheduled for Friday, October 9, 2026, at Northern Pearl Hotel Garden along Gulu-Kitgum Road, was called off after the Ministry of Health restricted the entry of Olomide and his band into Uganda.

The development has dashed the hopes of fans who had anticipated celebrating Uganda’s 64th Independence Day with the rhumba star, whose performance was part of a Bell Lager-sponsored live concert.

In a statement, the organisers said the postponement followed the government’s public health measures aimed at safeguarding Ugandans, visitors and the wider community amid the Ebola-related travel advisory.

“We fully respect and support the Government of Uganda’s public health measures and appreciate the need to protect the health and safety of Ugandans, visitors and the wider community,” the organisers said.

The concert will be rescheduled once the government lifts the applicable travel restrictions and Olomide and his team are cleared to travel to Uganda.

Organisers have assured ticket holders that all tickets purchased for the show will remain valid for the new date. Fans have been advised to keep their tickets safely as they await further communication.

The new concert date will be announced once the travel restrictions are lifted and the necessary clearance is secured.
