Karamoja cultural festival kicks off in Moroto

The 11th edition of the Karamoja annual cultural gala kicked off in Moroto town today (September 9).
The major objective, according to organisers, is to revive traditional heritage and promote cultural identity among the youth, women, and the elderly. The annual event in the sub-region is designed to retrace culture back to its roots by showcasing traditional dances, crafts, food, and music.
The event has attracted participants from the Ateker cluster that comprises the Iteso, Karimojong, and the Turkana from Kenya.
Others include the Nyangatom and the Toposa from South Sudan.
