Every year, the Catholic Church observes a month of justice and peace, during which the faithful are encouraged to pray and actively participate in initiatives that promote peace.
Kampala Archdiocese has always celebrated the month with deep commitment and with a firm belief that true peace is not limited to human beings but must also be shared with nature.
This year’s month-long justice and peace activities were launched by the Vicar-General of Kampala Archdiocese, Rev. Msgr Rogers Kabuye, who on September 1, 2025, led Christians in cleaning Bakuli Market in Mengo, Rubaga Division.
He then marched with them to St Matia Mulumba, Old Kampala, where he presided over the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

In his homily, Msgr Kabuye urged Christians to recognise the urgent need for justice and peace in the country and the world.
"Mother Church puts it to all of us, the baptised Christians, to be promoters of justice and peace. We must thus denounce every injustice. We also have the responsibility of supporting justice and peace initiatives. But of course, if we want to be genuine and effective, we must start with ourselves. So, let us allow peace to dwell in our hearts, our families, our workplaces, our communities, our country, and the world," Msgr Kabuye said.
The director of the justice and peace department of Kampala Archdiocese, Fr Emmanuel Sita, called for greater commitment to environmental conservation and peaceful conflict resolution instead of ecological destruction and armed aggression.
Fr Sita also thanked individual Christians, organisations and institutions that supported and participated in the celebration marking the opening of this year’s peace month.
