The newly elected President of the Executive Board, International Theatre Institute, Dr Jessica Atwooki Kaahwa, has promised to use her position to do big things for the Ugandan theatre industry.
Top on her to-do list is for Uganda to hold the World Theatre Day celebrations next year.
Speaking as a chief guest at the World Theatre Day celebrations at the National Theatre yesterday (Thursday), Kaahwa said that Ugandans should be proud of her achievement because, without her approval, nothing can happen at the institute.
She explained how she had recently used her power to block the elections of European representatives to the institute because the elections were being held without following the right procedures.

Kaahwa hopes to use her position to improve the quality of theatrical productions in Uganda as most of the practitioners are her former students.
