Juliana Kanyomozi: Why I keep my son’s father’s identity private

Legendary Ugandan singer Juliana Kanyomozi has reaffirmed her decision to keep the identity of her son Taj’s father private, despite persistent public curiosity about her personal life.

Juliana welcomed Taj on May 12, 2020, marking a new chapter in her motherhood journey. This time, however, the singer chose a different approach, keeping her pregnancy away from the public eye and revealing the news only after giving birth.

Unlike her previous experience of motherhood, which she shared more openly with the public, Juliana kept her second pregnancy private, confiding only in a small circle of family members and close friends.

Since Taj’s birth, social media users have repeatedly pressed the singer to reveal the identity of his father. However, Juliana has remained firm in her decision, choosing not to disclose the information or respond to speculation surrounding her relationship status.

During an interview on TV, the Nabikoowa singer explained that her decision stems from her naturally private personality and her preference to keep personal and family matters away from social media.

“Generally, I’m a very private person. Most of the things that concern me, I do not want to bring them out on social media. Those are my ways; I might be different from others, but everyone is free to do what they want,” she said.

Juliana has also explained that her decision to shield Taj from the public eye is intended to give him the freedom to choose his own path when he grows older. She wants him to decide for himself whether he wishes to live a public life or maintain his privacy.

Her approach reflects that of several high-profile personalities, including Halle Berry, Kerry Washington and Amal Clooney, who have taken steps to protect their children's privacy from excessive public attention.
