The Bunyoro region came alive on Friday night as culture, tourism and artificial intelligence (AI) took centre stage during the Miss Tourism Bunyoro 2026/2027 pageant at HB Hotel in Hoima.
The colourful event drew hundreds of spectators who enjoyed traditional music, cultural performances and exhibitions celebrating Bunyoro's rich heritage.
Contestants, fresh from an intensive boot camp, impressed judges with their confidence, public speaking skills and passion for promoting tourism and preserving the region's cultural identity.
After a closely contested competition, Janet Nabukeera was crowned Miss Tourism Bunyoro 2026/2027. Felishia Kaganzi Timbigamba finished as first runner-up, while Demitria Kemigisa was named second runner-up.
More than a beauty contest, the pageant highlighted the role of young women as ambassadors of culture and tourism while reinforcing Bunyoro's position as one of Uganda's leading tourism destinations. The newly crowned queens will now join regional winners from across the country ahead of the national grand finale on September 4, 2026, at Kampala Serena Hotel.
