KAMPALA - The Hockey Grounds, Lugogo in Uganda's Kampala city, came alive on Friday, August 29, 2025, night as Nigerian gospel minister Gift Ugochi Christopher, popularly known as Minister GUC, led thousands of Ugandans in a spirit-filled night of worship, prophecy, and testimonies that left many in tears, others healed, and some giving their lives to Christ.

From the moment he stepped on stage, the youthful gospel artiste, who has risen to global fame through soul-stirring songs like Obinigwe, All That Matters, Sound of Revival, and Captured My Heart, set the tone for what turned into more than two hours of deep worship and praise.

The grounds were filled to capacity, with the crowd singing along to every lyric, hands lifted, voices united, and hearts surrendered.

But beyond the music, it was Minister GUC’s testimony that carried the evening’s weight. He shared a personal journey marked by pain, rejection, and the sting of losing both parents at a young age.

“You are looking at a man who lost both his parents. People gave up on me, but God did not give up on me. I know one or two of you have the same testimony. People looked down on you and never gave you a chance, but here you are standing, he said with emotion.”

He went on to recall the scepticism he faced growing up.

“They said, ‘What can come out of this boy?’ But I am here to tell anyone who comes from a poor background, and they say, ‘What can come out of this vessel? Who are you?’ Guess what, God is making you a statement. And because you, Uganda, will see light, that is my prophecy for you tonight. I hear in my spirit that God is showing up for someone.”

The prophecy drew thunderous applause and shouts of “Amen!” from the crowd. Many worshippers broke down, kneeling and lifting their hands as tears rolled freely.

Minister GUC, who is signed under Nigeria’s EeZee Conceptz Global music label, did not hold back in his ministration. Song after song, he carried the crowd deeper into worship.

From the solemn chords of All That Matters to the electrifying chorus of Captured My Heart, the audience erupted in unified singing, turning the hockey grounds into a massive choir.

The atmosphere was thick with prayer and expectation. Several attendees testified to experiencing healing during the worship session.

Organisers reported that dozens gave their lives to Christ as the minister extended an altar call, a reminder that the night was more than just music but ministry.

“I came heavy, but I am leaving free,” said 24-year-old Lydia, who attended the concert with her friends.

“Hearing his story gave me strength. If God lifted him from being an orphan to ministering to nations, then my situation is not impossible.”

GUC himself was moved by the warmth of the Ugandan audience.

“I am so privileged to be here. I love Uganda so much,” he said. “Thank you, Lord, for this country, thank you for Kampala, thank you for the Pearl of Africa.”

As he exited the stage, GUC left Uganda with words of blessing and assurance: “Uganda, you will see the light of God. God is helping you.”
