Singer Yung Mulo has clarified that he did not sell his Sipimika hit to colleague Sheebah Karungi as many had speculated since he never uploaded it to any of his social media platforms.

In the song, there is a line, where Sheebah tells singer Spice Diana that she (Sheebah) is unrivaled. In May 2024, Spice Diana also released a song titled Twookya attacking Sheebah.

In one-on-one interview with Young Mulo on June 6, he clarified that Sheebah contacted him and requested for the remix.

"I did the original tune which we just developed," Mulo said.

Mulo said they agreed to each have 50% of the song royalties, and on ground performance.

“Sheebah and I had a mutual agreement to pay each other in form of royalties, not cash. We are equal partners in the Sipimika song,  and each of us has 50% shares. Each of us can perform the song as many times as the bookings allow," he said.

He said the terms and conditions agreed upon were stored online.

"We used Spotify and Tunecore, online copyright companies, to enforce the copyright. The companies collect our online money and send it on our bank accounts," Mulo said.

He explained that he did not upload the song because he did not want the views to be divided.

"The deal is that the more views, the more money. I never wanted to fight our own content from rising as Sheebah has a larger following on social media than me. It is the same competition that killed Love Commissioner for Rema Namakula and David Lutalo who both uploaded it and reduced its capacity to trend," Mulo said.

He praised the issue of copyright, saying it works.

"I do not earn money from the stage. I get it online, where I decided to register with the online copyright companies. I do not even pay audio producers. I reach an agreement with them. After the work, I give them royalty rights on the song and they receive the money directly on their accounts every month. Currently, it is very difficult to reupload my content even if it's just a picture on any social network as it can be struck down immediately. It’s the reason why you cannot find my original content on TikTok because I am registered with international online copyright companies,"  Mulo said.

He boasted that he is not selfish, which is the reason he has maintained his relevance

Mulo said he is not looking to make a name, saying he is already a celebrity.

Efforts to reach Sheebah Karungi failed. However, we managed to talk to her manager  Ediriisa Bukenya.

“We wanted to have a different feeling in a song, so we decided to work with our brother Mulo. We shared equal rights to the song and we are all fine. No one is complaining. There was a mutual understanding between two parties and they made the online agreement as we were copyrighting the song," Bukenya said .
