Ugandan artistes Herbert Skillz and Douglas Mayanja (Weasel) have teamed up for Wumula, an emotional tribute to late Goodlyfe singer Mowzey Radio, reminding fans that while a voice may fall silent, the music lives on.

The song, whose title means “rest” or “sleep well” in Luganda, comes with a poignant message of loss, remembrance and the hope of reunion. Through their vocals, the two artistes reflect on the pain of losing a loved one, repeatedly calling on the departed to rest in peace.

The official music video, released on the Radio & Weasel Goodlyfe YouTube channel, features vocals from both Herbert Skillz and Weasel. Herbert Skillz also produced the track, making it a joint effort rather than a solo release by Weasel.

For fans who have struggled to come to terms with Radio’s death, Wumula offers another opportunity to celebrate a musical giant whose voice helped define an era in Ugandan music.

Radio, whose real name was Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo, died on February 1, 2018, aged 33, following complications from a severe head injury sustained during a bar altercation in Entebbe.

As one half of the celebrated Radio & Weasel duo under Goodlyfe Crew, he helped shape Uganda’s music scene with his distinctive vocals, lyrical finesse and a sound blending R&B, reggae, dancehall and Afrobeat influences.

Together with Weasel, Radio delivered hits such as Nakudata, Lwaki Onumya and Bread and Butter, earning the duo a loyal following in Uganda and across East Africa.

His death left a huge void in the music industry, with fans continuing to revisit his songs and celebrate his contribution to the country’s musical heritage.

From studio ‘magic’ to an emotional tribute

The release of Wumula follows studio clips Herbert Skillz shared in early October, featuring himself and Weasel working together. At the time, he described their sessions as creating “magic”, raising anticipation among fans.

The finished project has since stirred emotions, with listeners praising the collaboration as a meaningful tribute and reaffirming that Radio remains unforgettable. The song has also prompted some fans to remember other artistes who have died.

For Weasel, the collaboration carries a particularly personal connection. The singer continues to celebrate the legacy he built with his former musical partner, whose voice remains closely associated with some of Goodlyfe’s biggest hits.

With Wumula, Herbert Skillz and Weasel have turned remembrance into music, giving fans another reason to revisit Radio’s legacy and the songs that made the duo household names.

The track is available on the Radio & Weasel Goodlyfe YouTube channel.
