Ugandan visual storyteller Frank Tumuhairwe is set to take audiences on another journey through Uganda’s rich cultural tapestry as his photography exhibition Faces of Culture II – Threads of Humanity returns for its second edition this Independence weekend.

The three-day cultural extravaganza will run from Friday, October 9 to Sunday, October 11, 2026, at MoTIV, Bugolobi, bringing together photography, fashion, music, body art and interactive creative experiences.

Tumuhairwe, a portrait and documentary photographer, says he intends to use the exhibition to explore African heritage, identity and contemporary culture through intimate portraits captured in Uganda and beyond.

He also reveals that the exhibition moves beyond traditional photography displays, as it juxtaposes ancestral dress and cultural traditions with the vibrant urban culture of today’s African youth.

“Humanity is bound by a shared brotherhood. The rich tapestry that connects us together has different faces, forms and identities,” Tumuhairwe says.

He adds that Faces of Culture is not simply about looking at photographs but an invitation for audiences to see themselves in others, celebrate their roots and reflect on where society is headed.

He says that the exhibition will feature a fashion runway curated by designer Muwaya, blending indigenous textiles with contemporary street style.

Music lovers will also have plenty to look forward to, with performances from Ugaboys, Eduwado Kayondo, Andereya and Lizyole, alongside other guest performers.

"For those seeking a more interactive experience, the event will feature live tattooing and cultural body-piercing pop-ups by Linus Tats, turning the human body into another canvas for cultural expression,” Tumuhairwe tells New Vision.

He reveals that visitors can also enjoy board games, artisanal cocktail bars, creative pitch spaces and networking hubs designed to bring together artists, culture enthusiasts and creatives.

“The three-day showcase is designed to connect different generations through art and culture while creating space for conversations around identity and belonging. There will be one-day and three-day pass tickets available at the entrance and online through our official website,” he said.
