American rapper King Combs, son of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, is set to bring his fashion and music star power to Kampala when he joins the inaugural Excessive Fashion 2026 show.
The event, dubbed “Fashion That Heals,” is scheduled for December 12 at Kampala Marriott Hotel, where fashion, entertainment and a cause close to the organisers’ hearts will share the same runway.
Fashion and lifestyle brand Joe Malaika announced King Combs as one of the headline names for the show, describing the rapper as no stranger to Excessive Fashion.
"He's no stranger to Excessive Fashion. He walked with us before in Boston, and now he will do it again in Uganda,” Malaika said.
King Combs’ appearance will mark another chapter in the Excessive Fashion journey, with the Kampala edition designed to use fashion as a platform to celebrate amputees and challenge perceptions about disability.
King Combs, whose real name is Christian Casey Combs, has followed in his father's musical footsteps while carving out his own identity in hip-hop and fashion.
The rapper has built a profile around a blend of contemporary hip-hop and the polished, luxury-inspired aesthetic associated with the Combs name. His involvement therefore adds a strong celebrity and fashion dimension to an event that seeks to put inclusivity at the centre of the runway.
For Excessive Fashion, however, the Kampala show will be more than just celebrity appearances. The organisers say the event will give amputees an opportunity to take centre stage, turning the runway into a space where fashion can help promote confidence, visibility and healing.
“Fashion heals, and our amputees shine on the runway,” Joe Malaika said while announcing King Combs.
He reveals that the event is expected to bring together fashion enthusiasts, entertainers, designers, influencers and other personalities for a night aimed at celebrating style while supporting a wider social cause.
“King Combs' connection with the Excessive Fashion brand also gives the Kampala debut an international touch.
Having previously participated in the event in Boston, his return to the runway in Kampala is being billed as part of the show's expansion onto the African fashion scene,” Malaika said.
