Diamond Platnumz promises massive Ugandan collaboration after years of false starts

For years, Diamond Platnumz and Ugandan musicians have been making music together, but somehow, the songs have remained prisoners in the studio. Now, the Tanzanian superstar believes their long-awaited musical breakthrough could finally be around the corner.

The Wasafi boss has promised that a major collaboration with a Ugandan artist could finally see the light of day before the end of this year or sometime next year.

Diamond, who flew into Uganda on Thursday ahead of his scheduled performance, made the revelation during a press conference in Kampala on Thursday evening.

Interestingly, he revealed that he has recorded more songs with Ugandan musicians than artists from any other country outside Tanzania. Yet, none of those collaborations has made it to the public.

Over the years, rumours have linked the Tanzanian hitmaker to possible collaborations with Ugandan stars such as Spice Diana, Fik Fameica and Gloria Bugie, among others. However, despite studio sessions and repeated anticipation, the promised projects have never materialised.

And according to Diamond, nobody should be blamed for the musical disappointments. He believes the delays could simply be a matter of timing and, perhaps, divine intervention.

"Honestly, it's just God and timing because I have done more songs with different artists from here than I have done with artists from any other country. Unfortunately, none of those songs are out yet. Between the respective artists and me, no one can blame the other because it's just a matter of timing," he said.

But Diamond is not giving up on Uganda just yet. In fact, he suspects that the repeated delays could be paving the way for something much bigger.

"Maybe God plans something very big because Tanzania and Uganda have a good history. Maybe God plans a very big global song because we have been working, but every time we try, things come in between. Maybe next year or at the end of this year, we may have a song out. I have always wanted to have a song with an artist here," he added.

For now, Ugandan musicians and their fans can only wait. After several studio encounters and collaborations that never made it past the recording stage, Diamond has once again raised expectations.
