The just concluded NAM and G77 + China Third South summits while now history, they have left some people staring at their calendar, looking for dates to also host their guests, and one of them is singer David Lutalo. With the date for his Babongote concert announced last year for January 27, 2024 at the Kampala Serena Hotel, the effects of the summit on Kampala’s social life have now forced his hand to push the concert 10 months ahead.

Via a statement put out on Tuesday, January 24, 2024, his management highlighted that the venue for the concert is still in use by international delegates, and would not give them the atmosphere to deliver a worthwhile experience.

“It has come to our notice that International delegates who attended the above mentioned conferences are still utilizing the hotel premises, making it hard for the organizers to satisfactorily deliver a noteworthy music concert as projected prior.

We therefore wish to inform the general public that this concert has been rescheduled for 8th November, 2024 after unanimity with Serena Hotel management and we are grateful for their cooperation,” read part of the statement.

This leaves rapper Fik Fameica enough room to manoeuvre given his King Kong Live In The City concert is set for January 26, 2024 at the Lugogo Cricket Oval. The pair made peace a week ago following Fameica’s earlier complaint that Lutalo ambushed him by setting up a concert just 24 hours after his. However, they were hosted on a local TV where they agreed to support each other.
