Ekinihiiro lights up Mbarara as Radio West marks 26 years

Radio West fans turned out in large numbers at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara city on Saturday to mark the station’s 26th anniversary.

The stadium opened its gates at 6:00am, and by 8:00am, crowds were being served free food as part of Radio West’s appreciation for 26 years of support.

The flagship celebration, known as Ekinihiiro, has consistently drawn thousands of supporters. Saturday’s event lived up to that tradition.

On air since April 10, 1999, Radio West used this year’s celebration to give back to fans with numerous gifts, made possible by sponsors and partners.

The event was further energised by performances from a lineup of artistes, including David Lutalo, as well as local favourites Sister Charity, Peterson MA and TPaul, who wowed the crowd with their popular hits.

Sponsors included MTN, WENDI, Pepsi, Golden Choice Party, Nyakayojo SACCO, Katatumba Academy, Herbalife Uganda, Solar Today, Hays Recruitment, and TV West.
