Every home has a father or a father figure, but what does it really mean to be a dad?
For generations, fathers have often been seen as the providers and protectors of the family. Their role was largely associated with bringing home an income, making major family decisions and ensuring the family was secure.
But times are changing.
Today, many fathers are taking a more active role in raising their children. From changing nappies and preparing meals to attending school meetings, helping with homework and having meaningful conversations with their children, modern fatherhood is becoming more involved.
But where should a father draw the line? Should he be involved in every family decision? What responsibilities should he take on, and what should he step back from? Does being a good father mean being the main provider, or is being emotionally present just as important?
The traditional dad and the modern dad may have different approaches, but one thing remains important children need fathers who are present, supportive and willing to play their part in building a healthy family.
So, what do you think?
What should a father be responsible for in today's home? Should fathers and mothers have clearly defined roles, or should couples share responsibilities depending on their circumstances?
