Copyright mix-up ends as Aganaga’s Nassanga Remix returns to YouTube

Kalifah Aganaga’s Nassanga Remix, featuring Winnie Nwagi, Weasel Manizo and Lil Pazo Lunabe, is back on YouTube after a copyright strike briefly pulled the viral hit from the platform.
The takedown sparked widespread discussion earlier this week, coming just days after the remix crossed the one-million-view mark in only two weeks.
According to Aganaga’s team, the strike was triggered on Tuesday after investigations revealed that deejay Junior Hassa had uploaded the song’s instrumental but mistakenly registered it under the wrong ownership. The error caused YouTube’s Content ID system to flag the original track instead.
Hassa has since denied intentionally claiming ownership of the song, insisting the mix-up was accidental. He explained that he was unaware the remix had been removed and immediately deleted the instrumental while removing the Content ID claim.
“I thought they would not make the song come off as mine. I was not claiming the song’s copyright, and I thought everything was okay. They called me saying that their song received a strike. But I did something on my account and took down the Content ID and the copyright claim. I do not have money to pay them, but I’m so sorry. Kalifah and his fans should forgive me,” Hassa said.
The restoration caps off another dramatic chapter in the Nassanga revival, which has enjoyed a massive resurgence on TikTok and across streaming platforms.
Riding the wave of the song’s renewed popularity, Aganaga has also unveiled the Nassanga Festival 2026, a concert inspired by the remarkable comeback of one of his biggest hits.
