Ugandan singer Cindy Sanyu says her relationship with fellow artist Omega 256 deteriorated due to disagreements over revenue and recognition from their hit collaboration, See You Tonight.

Cindy has stated she is unwilling to work with Omega again, citing indiscipline during and after the project.

Omega has rejected the allegations, accusing Cindy of misrepresenting the facts.

“I made a mistake out of my kindness,” Cindy said.

According to Cindy, tensions arose when the pair began receiving awards for the track. She claimed Omega’s team tried to take full ownership of the accolades, even though the song was her project. Cindy said she sourced the songwriter, composed the song in her studio, and oversaw most of the creative process, while Omega’s team did not contribute financially.

Cindy admitted her goodwill may have caused issues: she agreed to upload the song to Omega’s YouTube channel to support Omega’s career. Both parties signed a 50/50 revenue-sharing agreement, but Cindy claims Omega received 60% of the earnings, leaving her with 40%.

In response, Omega 256 (Shamim Mulerwa) said she was disheartened by the claims. “I am surprised to hear that I stole a song that we did together,” she said, adding that they both contributed equally. Omega explained that after consultation with Cindy’s team, she was told Cindy was comfortable with the song being on Omega’s channel.

Omega also disputed claims that her team lacked creative input, stating, “We actually found our writer, Ntale, and he is the one who wrote the Runyankore verse. In fact, I have an entire Runyankore song titled See You Tonight.”
