Celebrating Christmas with refugees with disabilities

Over 500 refugees from areas of Namuwongo, Nsambya, Kisenyi, Ndeeba, Makindye and Nakulabye, among other areas, gathered for merry-making.

In the ghetto of Nsambya, Kirombe in Kampala, Bob Mayonza, in conjunction with Young African Refugees for Integral Development (YARID) celebrated their Christmas with refugees, especially those with disability.
Mayonza, the country director of non-profit making Pilgrim Centre for Reconciliation, said the activity of celebrating Christmas with the refugees has been carried out every year.

"Even during the lockdown, we managed to supply basic necessities to some of these refugees who live in different areas of Kampala suburbs. However, this time, we have paid more attention to those with special needs, especially epileptic children," Mayonza said.

Over 500 refugees from areas of Namuwongo, Nsambya, Kisenyi, Ndeeba, Makindye and Nakulabye, among other areas, gathered for merry-making, dancing to light moments before they were served a sumptuous lunch and cake. The smile on their faces made more meaning to Christmas celebrations.
