The Catholic Centenary Memorial Choir (locally referred to as Cacemcho) celebrated 45 years of its existence with a marvelous musical concert at Theatre La Bonita in Kampala on Sunday (September 24, 2023).
During the show, the choir of national composition performed several sacred songs in a variety of styles.
The concert also featured students’ ensembles, including Caltec Academy (Makerere) Brass Ensemble and Choir, Holy Cross Lake View SSS Wanyange Jinja, and Fr. Anthony Aliddeki Musaala.
The minister of state for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, Hon Joseph Kyofatogabye donated sh10m towards the purchase of a new organ for CACEMCHO. His donation was delivered by Madam Esther Namboka who represented him.
The Catholic Centenary Memorial Choir was founded by the late Emmanuel Cardinal Nsubuga (the former Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese) in 1978 with the purpose of leading the singing during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Catholic faith in Uganda (1979).
During the 45 years of its existence, Cacemcho has also ministered in foreign lands, Italy, Germany, Israel, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania.
