Bishop Eibu's dance moves inspire Kotido parishioners

When Diocesan Bishop Dominic Eibu recently joined his congregation in a dance, there were first sighs of disbelief, followed by applause. And then everyone else seemed to join the dance thereafter.
This was at Kotido Cathedral premises on Saturday, August 15, 2026, during a Mass. The event captured a shared sense of community and spiritual celebration.

One of the parishioners, Mercy Akapolon Lonyang, explained what the bishop's dance meant to the congregation. "We find joy in dance. We dance to each instrument, including tambourines, differently," she said. For her, the sound of the tambourines indicates spiritual warfare.
"Some Christians remained seated while others joined Bishop Eibu. There was a big message in that," said Nasio Lokiru. Her only worry is when some Christians interpret the dance as entertainment for entertainment's sake and do not relate it to the gospel.
