Bebe Cool’s manager fires back at Kenzo: ‘Stop riding the sympathy train’

Talent manager Ronnie Mutabaazi has jumped into the latest Eddy Kenzo-Bebe Cool saga, dismissing Kenzo’s accusations against Gagamel International boss Bebe Cool as little more than a desperate bid for attention.

Kenzo recently accused Bebe Cool of betraying him during the campaign season, claiming he turned the media team against him and stopped them from filming him despite their joint arrangement.

But Mutabaazi is having none of it.

According to him, nobody stopped the media team from filming Kenzo, and the singer is simply dusting off his favourite weapon — sympathy — to get himself back in the headlines.

“No media person was stopped from filming Kenzo. It is all a lie. I can swear on that. But Kenzo rides on sympathy,” Mutabazi said.

He added that Kenzo has spent so long reminding people that he entered the music industry young that he may have forgotten he is now old enough to retire the sympathy card.

“Kenzo keeps telling himself that he is still young because he entered the industry at a young age. But he is old enough to play sympathy cards,” he said.

Mutabazi, in a television  interview,  also defended Bebe Cool against suggestions that he deliberately denied Kenzo media attention, arguing that the veteran singer has bigger things to worry about.

“Bebe Cool, with this good heart, doesn’t have the time to stop the media team from filming Kenzo,” he said.

And just when it seemed the drama had found its ceiling, Mutabazi raised it a few floors higher, turning his guns on Kenzo’s leadership at the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF).

He claimed Bebe Cool walked away from his finance position because his values did not align with those of Kenzo and his cabinet.

According to Mutabazi, some artists complained that they did not receive money because, he alleged, Kenzo’s team was more interested in taking its share first.

“The difference between Bebe and Kenzo is that Bebe has a good heart and is transparent. You cannot receive money and first take your share before you think of others. Many artists complained that they didn’t get money,” he said.

He further suggested that Kenzo’s latest outburst could be frustration over the fact that Bebe Cool survived the political storm and continued campaigning despite what he described as attempts to undermine him.

“. Bebe Cool is not even his age mate. He is in his own world doing his own things.  Bebe Cool is a married man and has been here for 30 years. How can you say he is trying to use you for attention? You cannot even be equal to him because he is way different from you,” he concluded.
