Stella Nante is an actress, scriptwriter, and assistant director. She plays the powerful “Dorcus” in the TV drama series The Honorablez that airs on DSTVs Pearl Magic channel.

For a girl who grew up with a desire for acting, she has done more than that, winning awards for short film writing, like ‘Mbajjo’ featuring in adverts, and other dramas like “Deception”, “Second Chance,” and many more.

But offset, who exactly is this gorgeous, bubbly actress? She shared a few interesting and hilarious facts about herself.

Colour choice

“My favourite colour is sunset orange because it brings back the beautiful memory. My mother found me convulsing from a high temperature on the living room floor when I was about five or six years old. She rushed me to the hospital and thankfully we were discharged that day. On the way back home, we got a window seat in the taxi, and I saw the sunset as we drove past. I was so excited that I pointed it out to mummy so she asked the driver to stop so we could get off. We sat where we could get a full view, I watched the sunset with her, and it brought back life to me. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and every time I see sunset orange, it reminds me of her love and sacrifice for me. So, I have lots of sunset orange shoes, bags bangles and even cutlery,” she narrates.

Shower hour

“I shower for hours,” she laughs at herself.

“My roommates at campus and siblings at home used to tease me about it all the time. Whenever they saw me entering the bathroom, they scrambled to go first because I would be in there for at least two hours. I love the feel of water on my skin so that is what delays me!”

Three towel tycoon

“I never dry myself using just a single towel. They have to be 3! I always let my face air dry. The first towel works on my torso, the next till the knees and the third is for the legs and toes. I have a bit of OCD when it comes to my body, I guess. And I lay them one by one and know where to place each after use,” she laughs.

Slow but sure

“I am a very slow eater and eat my food in order. My food has to be extremely soft before I swallow it and I rearrange my food on the plate with each forkful I remove. I find it hard to place another type of food in the same spot where the other has been in the mouth so, I eat in phases, a different food at a time. Oh, and I have to have more gravy than food on my plate!” she confesses.

Breakthrough

“My first breakthrough project was “Deception”, a TV series I joined in 2018. I played the role of 'Jackie' and it opened more doors for me like judging casting, adverts, and other appearances on screen.

Notes for prep

“I write notes in a book about everything I am going to say from my script. I then read them, understand the character, and memorize my lines. When I am done, I close the book and do not look at it again until I hear the word “action!” But when I close my book I find a private corner, sit alone to take it all in. I never prepare my actions, reactions, and emotions, because on set, anything can change. The director can change the script at any moment, so I only prepare my dialogue. To manage stage fright, I take deep breaths and talk slowly so that I do not rush my lines” she says.

Love for the extraordinary

“I always want to stand out from the ordinary that is why I love coloured hair. I love bright colours from my clothes to the hair to my household property because they make me happy!”

Introverted extrovert

"I love people and I can be outgoing but when I am stressed or overwhelmed, I recoil. I become a recluse, seek a quiet place, and sit in solitude because I do not want to see or be with anyone. Or I go to the beach and watch the waves because they calm me down and the water takes me to a peaceful place. I love the beach on weekdays when there are no people and I hate crowds!” she confesses.
