Popularly known as “Mr Economy,” Abraham Luzzi has become one of the most talked-about figures in Kampala’s political scene ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
His bid to contest for Member of Parliament for Kampala Central as an independent candidate has drawn widespread attention — not only because of his bold personality, but also his unique fusion of business acumen and people-centred leadership.
Luzzi’s public persona — humorous, open, and deeply relatable — has turned him into a social media phenomenon.
His catchphrase, “Sarah is tall,” a playful reference to his wife, Sarah Luzzi, has become a viral symbol of his light-hearted yet grounded approach to politics.
To many of his supporters, notably former minister Mike Mukula, Luzzi’s charm reflects authenticity rarely seen in Ugandan politics.
“Luzzi Abraham is emerging as a true pacesetter in Kampala Central politics. His fresh approach, disciplined attitude, and commitment to service set him apart. Watch this space, a new chapter is unfolding,” Mukula wrote on X. Many agreed with him. Before Mukula, entrepreneur, Amos Wekesa and media mogul Kin Kariisa praised Luzzi’s economic vision.
His fight against corruption, where he plans to introduce the China style death penalty hanging for anyone found guilty of causing gross public financial loss or embezzlement of public funds has got some questioning his practicability and sanity.
“Luzzi Abraham is that rare political comedian who campaigns with policy in one hand and punchlines in the other. He’ll expose a serious political flaw, then wrap it in a joke that trends for days. In a noisy arena, he uses humour as his microphone — making politics lighter, a one Timothy Masembe commented on X.
Luzzi’s transformative manifesto, which Ugandans have widely praised for its depth and realism, includes the zero-tolerance anti-corruption policy, minimum wage and employment protection, public sector professionalisation, a fast and fair justice system, local business empowerment, and urban economic transformation.
“Hon. Abraham Luzzi’s manifesto is more than campaign rhetori,c it’s a blueprint for Uganda’s economic rebirth. focus on corruption control, fair wages, efficient governance, and local business empowerment has sparked hope among youth, professionals, and business leaders,” political analyst, Thomas Sendege says.
Politically, Luzzi’s journey has been marked by resilience and reinvention. He began as a mobiliser for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Mityana and Mubende, later contested for Mityana Municipality MP in 2021, and briefly joined the Democratic Party (DP) before charting an independent course.
Unlike traditional politicians who rely on long manifestos, Luzzi’s approach blends humour, street-level engagement, and practical solutions.
