UPDF officer shoots Senior Three student dead, teacher on life support

The deceased, identified as Gabriel Okiror, died instantly after being shot in the chest by a female UPDF officer during a scuffle with security officers who had gone to arrest him over allegations of theft. The bullet that killed Okiror also struck Bernard Majja, a 28-year-old teacher of geography, in the chest; he collapsed, and he is currently battling for his life at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital.

According to the Police, Okiror was shot by Pte Agnes Atim, a UPDF soldier attached to the Military Police in Kampala as a Uganda National Examinations Board escort, after she allegedly grabbed a gun from Police Constable Sylvia Ijobu.
